Reasons to volunteer
There are lots of reasons why you might want to volunteer with us, including:
- giving back to the community
- making a difference to families around you
- developing new skills
- building on existing knowledge and experience
Who can volunteer
Anyone is welcome to volunteer with us.
If we think you are suitable for a people-focused volunteer role we will need you to have an enhanced DBS Check. We carry these checks out as part of the volunteer recruitment process.
Volunteer roles
There are several types of volunteer roles here at SENDIAS Cornwall & Isles of Scilly. These include administrative, marketing and communication roles. Most of our volunteers offer their time as Parent Champions. All of our volunteers who become Parent Supporters have first been Parent Champions.
Volunteer Feedback Administrator
An important part of our work is to gather feedback from service users. This volunteering role involves making direct contact with service users, completing surveys with them over the telephone.
Volunteer Enquiry and Referral Officer
As a Volunteer Enquiry and Referral Officer, you will be the first point of contact for individuals seeking support, collecting their details, and inputting them onto the database before connecting them with the right support and services. This role plays a vital part in ensuring timely, compassionate assistance.
Volunteer Advisory Group - Independent Chair
Part of our Minimum Standards for Delivery is the requirement for an independent Advisory Group which includes representatives from service user groups and key stakeholders from education, social care and health.
The Advisory Group has a role in challenging the service’s delivery, to ensure that it has strategies in place and evidence of being at “arms-length” from the Local Authority (LA) and the Integrated Care Board (ICB) across Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly. The group also represents, champions and promotes the role of Sendias in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
The Independent Chair leads and manages the business of the Advisory Group.
